Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar )- Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Odisha has emerged as the top-performing State in the country in completion of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U 2.0).
Since the launch of PMAY-U 2.0 in September 2024, Odisha has demonstrated remarkable progress in delivering affordable housing to urban beneficiaries. From March 2025 to March 2026, the State has consistently maintained the number one position in India in house completion performance, reaffirming its strong commitment towards the vision of “Housing for All.”
A total of 24,625 houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-U 2.0 in Odisha. Out of these, 23,464 proposed sites have already been geo-tagged. Foundation work has commenced for 3,134 houses, while 2,008 houses have been completed as on 5th May 2026. The remaining houses are in various stages of construction, and the State Government is confident of achieving the targets within the stipulated timeline.
The achievement reflects the proactive efforts of the Housing & Urban Development Department, effective coordination with Urban Local Bodies, and speedy implementation at the grassroots level.
Hon’ble Minister, Housing & Urban Development, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, has advised officials to further expedite construction activities and ensure that the remaining targets under PMAY-U 2.0 are achieved well ahead of schedule. He has emphasized timely execution, quality construction, and speedy delivery of benefits to eligible urban poor families across the State.
Odisha’s continued success under PMAY-U 2.0 reflects the State Government’s focused approach towards inclusive urban development and dignified living for all citizens.
