Five-Day Residential Training Program for KGBV Wardens Commences

Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- A five-day residential training program for the wardens of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) has commenced at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhubaneswar. The training program is being jointly organized by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, and the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA), Odisha.

Attending the program, Smt. Sangeeta Behera, Additional Director of OSEPA, advised the KGBV wardens to become more efficient and sensitive in their roles. She emphasized that it is the core duty of the wardens to create a safe, inclusive, affectionate, and learning-conducive residential environment for the girl students. Smt. Behera further stated that the main objective of this workshop is to empower the wardens to transform KGBVs into secure, disciplined, student-friendly, and high-quality residential educational institutions.

Dr. Santosh Kumar Rout, Joint Director of OSEPA, delivered the welcome address and shared insights about the program. He highlighted that a positive relationship and effective communication must be established among students, parents, teachers, and the community. He also advised the wardens to actively create awareness regarding the students' health check-ups, nutritional security, menstrual hygiene, sanitation, and healthy lifestyles.

Among other prominent dignitaries, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Union Ministry of Education, Prof. Shashikala Wanjari (NIEPA), Archana Sharma Awasthi, Joint Secretary, Shri Ram Niwas, Deputy Secretary, Dr. Santwana G. Mishra, Dr. Kumar Gaurav, and Dr. Imra Kerketta joined the event virtually. On this occasion, an official handbook was also unveiled by the guests.

The training program is being attended by Teacher Educators from DIETs and District Gender Coordinators. More than 70 wardens from 5 districts of the state are participating in this workshop. Other notable attendees present at the event included Prof. Manasi Goswami, Principal, RIE, Prof. Ritanjali Das, Dr. Sarita, and Lahari Mohanty, State Gender Coordinator, OSEPA.
