The Odisha Postal Circle is celebrating World Post Day and National Postal Week 2026 from October 9 to 15, highlighting the expanding role of India Post in digital communication, financial inclusion, logistics and citizen-centric services. This year’s World Post Day theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities,” reflects the department’s transformation into a technology-enabled public service network.

Odisha Postal Circle operates 8,908 post offices across the state, including 35 Head Post Offices, 35 Mukhya Dak Ghars, 1,143 Sub Post Offices and 7,695 Branch Post Offices. The extensive network serves urban, rural, tribal and remote communities, ensuring access to essential services.

During 2025-26, the Circle handled over 92.60 lakh Speed Post bookings and approximately 12.50 lakh parcel bookings. It has also established 12 Centralised Delivery Centres to improve mail and parcel delivery efficiency.

To promote exports, 35 Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras are operational across all districts, facilitating international shipments for artisans, local producers and MSMEs. The department is also expanding Aadhaar, passport, railway reservation and digital banking services through its postal network.

Under financial inclusion initiatives, India Post Payments Bank has opened 46.5 lakh accounts in Odisha. It has facilitated 3.71 crore Direct Benefit Transfer transactions, while more than 13.9 lakh Subhadra beneficiaries have been served.

The National Postal Week programme will feature Fun with Philately Day on October 12, Financial Inclusion and Citizen-Centric Services Day on October 13, Mail and Parcels Day on October 14, and Technology and Innovation Day on October 15.

Other initiatives include modernising post offices, promoting philately among students, supporting government welfare schemes and strengthening digital service delivery.

The celebration underscores India Post’s continuing commitment to accessible, reliable and innovative services, reinforcing its role in connecting communities and supporting Odisha’s socio-economic development.
