Paperman Media (Bhubaneswar )- Six MLAs of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) who cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections have been suspended. The suspended MLAs are Baliguda MLA Chakramani Kuanra, Jayadev (Bhubaneswar) MLA Naba Kishor Mallick, Cuttack-Chowdwar MLA Sauvik Biswal, Basta MLA Subashini Jena, Tirtol MLA Ramakant Bhoi and Banki MLA Devi Ranjan Tripathi. This decision was taken after the BJD's political affairs committee meeting this evening. Chief whipbof the opposition Pramila Mallick gave this information to the media. And a auapension letter also issued by the President of BJD Naveen Pattanaik.
It is worth noting that voting for four Rajya Sabha seats was held in the state on the 16th of this month. The above-mentioned suspended BJD MLAs cross-voted in this election. These MLAs voted for BJP-backed candidate Industrialist Dilip Roy. After this, the BJD initiated disciplinary action. In this regard, BJD first issued show cause notices to 6 MLAs of the party and asked them to show cause by 5 pm on March 20. The notice issued by the BJD said that the above MLAs have cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha election and They have violated the party's instructions. It has been sought to know why party discipline and legal action should not be taken against them.
In the last 16th, voting was held in the assembly for 4 Rajya Sabha seats in Odisha. 147 MLAs from the state participated in this. BJP's Manmohan Samal and Sujit Kumar were victorious in the elections, while the supported candidate Dilip Roy also won. On the other hand, BJD's Santrupta Mishra won while BJD and Congress-backed candidate Dattaswar Hota lost. Mr. Hota lost due to cross-voting by 11 MLAs of BJD and Congress.
