The traditional Patarakhi Yatra, carrying the sacred Rakhi offered by Maa Subhadra to Lord Baladevjew, the elder brother of Shri Jagannath, began from Srikshetra, Puri, on its way to Tulasikshetra in Kendrapara amid religious fervour and devotion.
The sacred Rakhi was received from Puri Govardhan Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati. Members of the Patarakhi Seva Parishad participated in the religious ceremony and sought the blessings of the Shankaracharya before commencing the journey.
Among those present on the occasion were Hi-Tech Group Director Biswaraj Panigrahi, Patarakhi Seva Parishad President Himanshu Sekhar Sahu, Saubhagya Manjari Sahu, Shubhranshu Sahu and Bhubanananda Das.
The sacred Patarakhi will be carried to Lord Baladevjew at Tulasikshetra as part of the traditional observance symbolising the bond of affection between Maa Subhadra and Lord Baladevjew. The ritual reflects Odisha’s rich spiritual traditions and the deep cultural connection associated with the Jagannath tradition.
As part of the journey, a special religious programme will be held at the Sri Ganesh Temple of Hi-Tech Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where the Patarakhi will be kept for a day and sacred rituals will be performed. The onward journey will be undertaken under the guidance of senior Daitapati Badagrahi Ramakrishna Das Mahapatra.
According to sources, Hi-Tech Group trustees Dr. Suresh Panigrahi, Dr. Rakesh Panigrahi and Er. Rupesh Panigrahi, along with Director Biswaj Panigrahi, are expected to accompany the Patarakhi on its onward journey to Tulasikshetra.
The Patarakhi Yatra is regarded as a significant expression of Odisha’s religious and cultural heritage, symbolising sibling affection, devotion and the enduring spiritual bond between the deities and devotees of the Jagannath tradition.
