Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- Due to large-scale industrialization, there will be no more migration for employment in Odisha in the coming days, but reverse migration, said Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi. The Chief Minister said this while inaugurating a large apparel manufacturing unit set up by Page Industries at Ramdaspur in Cuttack district today. This enterprise, established with an investment of about Rs 750 crore, has created new employment for more than 5,800 youth.
It is worth noting that today, the foundation stone of another unit of this Page Industries was laid in Bhuinpur. 3,500 jobs will be created in its Bhuinpur unit with an investment of Rs 258 crore. Along with this, the foundation stone of the textile plant of MAS India Clothing Pvt Ltd was also laid in Bhuinpur today.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has focused on the textile and apparel industry. More employment opportunities are available in this sector with less investment. Especially women get more employment. Keeping in mind employment and women empowerment, the state government is setting up new apparel industries in Odisha. A large number of textile and apparel industries are being set up in Khordha, Cuttack, Ganjam and other districts. In July last year, a textile meet was held in Odisha. Capital proposals worth about Rs 7800 crore were received. These proposals are now being implemented at a fast pace.
He said that industrialization not only creates employment but also has an impact on small and medium enterprises, startups, local supply chains and skill development. This creates a strong industrial ecosystem.
The Chief Minister said that today is a golden chapter in the development of industry for Odisha. Today, the foundation stone of many industrial projects worth about Rs 41,000 crore was laid and inaugurated in Khurda district, while this new apparel unit will further accelerate the textile and garment industry in the state.
He added that today, employment opportunities have been created for about 60,000 youth, which has given new hope to the youth of Odisha.
He said that the state government is committed to building Odisha as the “Surat” or “Tirupur” of eastern India. Policy reforms and an industry-friendly environment have been created to harness the potential of skilled Odia artisans in the textile and apparel sector in the state.

He further said that ‘plug and play’ facilities i.e. land, electricity, water and transportation along with all the basic amenities are being provided in the apparel parks in the state. This has made Odisha an attractive destination for investors. An investment of about Rs. 7,212 crore and creation of 40,000 jobs have been set in the textile sector.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with Salepur’s daughter Prabha Rautharaya and Mayurbhanj’s daughter Yamuna Tudu, who have come from Tamil Nadu and are working in the Odisha textile industry, and learnt about their experience and efficient working methods.
Expressing the government's commitment to industry and employment, Industries Minister Shri Sampada Chandra Swain said at the event that the government's focus is on how to create maximum employment through industry. With the establishment of all these industries, many MSMEs will also be developed, which will provide employment to many youth.
At the event, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Shri Pradeep Bala Samanta thanked the Chief Minister and said that the Textile Industry has created a golden chapter in the industrial development of Odisha. Investment in the state will be of great help for our skilled human resources.
