Bhubaneswar - Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) for the academic session 2026–27 were successfully conducted across schools in Odisha. The meetings witnessed the participation of parents, members of School Management Committees (SMCs), teachers, and school authorities, providing a common platform to strengthen collaboration for the holistic development of students.
A wide range of important issues relating to education, student welfare and community participation were discussed during the meetings. These included the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Viksit Bharat – An Introduction, Har Ghar Tiranga 2026, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0, Suravi, observance of the Swachhata Pakhwada, and the role of parents in ensuring children's safety in the digital world. Discussions also focused on career guidance and future planning for students, emphasizing the crucial role of parents in shaping their children's aspirations.
The meetings further highlighted the availability and maintenance of sanitary vending machines and incinerators for adolescent girls in schools, as well as the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene on school premises. Special emphasis was laid on bringing out-of-school and dropout children back into the mainstream education system to improve enrolment and retention.
Participants were also sensitized about the various provisions available for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) under the Samagra Shiksha programme and discussed the shared responsibilities of parents and teachers in ensuring inclusive education and the overall development of these students.
During the deliberations, participants expressed the view that the active involvement of parents and the community is essential for the all-round development of students and the continuous improvement of schools. The meeting also served as a platform to discuss various measures for enhancing the quality of education. Parents were invited to provide constructive suggestions for the overall development and effective functioning of schools.
