Power Supply Restored to 93% in Flood-Affected Areas; ACS Energy Reviews Progress on Directives of Hon’ble Dy CM

Bhubaneswar, 01, August, 2026

Following the explicit directives and close oversight of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Energy, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo a high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Energy, Shri Vishal Dev, with all DISCOMs to evaluate the status of power supply restoration across flood-affected regions of the State. The Hon’ble Dy CM’s intervention underscored the State Government's commitment to ensuring swift grid recovery while prioritizing public safety in the affected districts.

During the meeting, the DISCOMs reported significant progress, confirming that power supply has already been restored to 93% of affected consumers statewide as floodwaters recede. While restoration work is moving rapidly across most regions, low-lying and severely waterlogged pockets in districts such as Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur are experiencing minor delays due to persisting water levels and limited physical access. Officials noted that there has been no major structural damage to the overall power infrastructure, and failed or burnt transformers are being replaced expeditiously as ground conditions allow.

Echoing the clear mandate from the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister regarding citizen welfare, the ACS Energy strictly directed the DISCOMs to restore full power at the earliest, while ensuring that public safety and the safety of field personnel remain the ultimate priority. DISCOMs were advised to conduct thorough safety checks before energising any submerged lines or installations, to maintain close coordination with District Administrations in inaccessible areas, and to keep the public updated in real time through media and social media channels regarding the outage status and expected timelines.
