Paperman Media ( Bhubaneswar )- The progress of the ongoing Census operations in the State was reviewed today at Lok Seva Bhawan by Dr. Arvind Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Revenue and Disaster Management Department. During the meeting, Shri Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, Director of Census Operations (DCO) apprised the Additional Chief Secretary about the successful completion of the first phase of the Census, namely the House Listing Operation and Housing Census. It was discussed that the Census activities were carried out smoothly and completed successfully across the State owing to the coordinated efforts of officers and staff engaged at various levels. On this occasion, Dr. Padhee appreciated the dedicated and sincere efforts of all Census functionaries, District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, Enumerators and Supervisors for their role in successfully conducting the exercise. He observed that the contribution of field-level personnel is crucial for the successful implementation of a large-scale national programme such as the Census. The meeting also deliberated in detail on the preparations, action plan and future course of action for the next phase of the Census, namely Population Enumeration. The Additional Chief Secretary emphasized the need for timely completion of all preparatory activities to ensure the successful conduct of the forthcoming phase. It may be noted that the House Listing Operation and Housing Census, constituting the first phase of the Census in Odisha, were successfully conducted for a period of 30 days from 16 April 2026 to 15 May 2026. In addition, the Self-Enumeration programme was completed between 1 April 2026 and 15 April 2026. The second phase, Population Enumeration, is scheduled to be undertaken in February 2027. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary extended his best wishes to the Census team for the next phase and expressed confidence in the successful execution of the upcoming Census activities. Among others, Smt. Pragyadhara Mishra and Smt. Alomani Sethi, Additional Secretaries, Revenue and Disaster Management Department ; Shri Hemanta Kumar Singh and Shri Haradhan Karmi, Joint Directors of Census Operations, were present during the meeting.
