Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has presented a report card highlighting seven years of development and service-oriented initiatives undertaken during her tenure as a Member of Parliament from May 2019 to till date. Emphasising that “development and service are the core of politics,” Sarangi said her focus has remained on addressing public grievances and strengthening infrastructure across the constituency.
According to the report, major initiatives have been taken in roads, transport, education, healthcare, drinking water, electricity, sports, agriculture, culture and heritage. Among the key infrastructure projects is the proposed six-lane road from Rameswar in Khordha to Tangi in Cuttack, with an estimated investment of ₹8,307 crore. Several bypasses, service roads and drainage projects have also been pursued to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar.
The report also mentions seven flyovers costing around ₹240 crore and 16 underpasses involving nearly ₹186 crore. Railway infrastructure has received attention through renovation of Bhubaneswar, Mancheswar and Lingaraj Road stations, along with railway overbridges at Patia and Kalarahanga and additional stoppages at several stations.
In education, eight block-level modern libraries and 156 panchayat-level libraries have been taken up. Healthcare initiatives include MP medical camps that benefited more than 30,000 people, besides health services for over 2,000 people through various hospitals and distribution of assistive devices to persons with disabilities.
Other initiatives include drinking-water and sewerage projects, restoration of canals and Gangua drain, a grid sub-station at Balianta, sports infrastructure at Begunia, a modern fish market at Pandara and a ₹250-crore textile and apparel project at Jagannathpur.
The report further highlights development of 29 temples and cultural projects, including a ₹630-crore modern art gallery in Bhubaneswar. Sarangi said 23,478 public grievances were received, of which 20,661, or 88 per cent, have been resolved.
